COMPANY HISTORY

Over the past four decades Ringnalda TenHaken Insurance Group(RTI) has been by partnering with West Michigan residents and businesses by providing the protection and service they expect from a local, independent insurance agent.

​

Garry Ringnalda started in the insurance industry in Grand Rapids in the late 1970's and soon found that he could best serve his client’s needs as an independent agent.  The Garry L Ringnalda Agency was born.  Over the following years Garry continued to grow the agency steadily by offering the personal touch and expertise that only a local, independent agent can offer.

Through acquisitions and good old-fashioned salesmanship the Ringnalda Agency became a presence in the West Michigan area and added several highly-rated insurance companies along the way, including Frankenmuth, Citizens, Michigan Millers and Wolverine Mutual.

In 2009 Garry’s son, Eric, and Mark TenHaken joined the agency as producers and the next stage of the Ringnalda Agency’s growth began.  The agency added additional carriers such as EMC, Michigan Insurance, Pioneer State Mutual and Travelers.  A Holland location was added to . And in 2012 Garry’s son Adam came on as a producer.

In 2017 it was time for Garry to retire and he passed on the reigns to Eric, Adam and Mark.  A slight name change to RTI hasn’t changed the dedication to personal service and insurance expertise.  RTI has continued to show strong growth, has added a 3rd location in Portage, and has several highly trained agents and support staff in both Personal Lines and Commercial Lines of insurance.
